Board sports have come up in the world. It started out as a rebellious thing, you know, to be a surfer or skateboard you were kind of thought of as a punk ass. Board sports have not only just become a hell of a lot more popular since they first came about but they have evolved just as much. Here’s a history lesson, in the 50’s people took surfing to the streets and called it sidewalk surfing, literally the term skateboard wasn’t invented yet. The boards sucked ass and there was no such thing as concave, the wheels were made out of some kind of crappy plastic, now they are made of polyurethane and our ball bearings can spin for days. Anyways, now surfing is done by the older generation just as much but the biggest change I see is skiing vs. snowboarding. It used to be for every 200 skiers on the mountain there were was 1 or 2 snowboarders. Now it is nearly the opposite. You head up to the pass and snowboards dominate the number of skis on the slopes now which is awesome becuase skiing is about as cool as soaps (fact). As for the acceptance of skatebaording… well that’s pretty much the same from when it started. I absolutely love skateboarding and have a lot of friends who skate, but lets just say if I hit a skateboarder with my car I would’nt feel bad. Now, for the evolution of skateboarding… it has progressed, well lets just say hella. Just type “Skateboarding Big air contest” into YouTube and you’ll see what I mean.
Water skiing is about the same story as snow skiing in the sense that it is cooler now to Wakeboard then ski… I mean that is just an obvious fact. It is my prediction that water skiing will in the near future be completely taken out of the equation. I will point out that I have never done it but just watching it bores the crap out of me so much that I will never want to try it. Eventually the rest of the population will feel the same way… I’m just sayin…
